Interactive Cinema, now in the Philippines - SM Winema

Some of the bloggers got the chance to try out the newest technology SM Cinema is offering. The SM Winema!

What comes into your mind when you were told or heard about the term "Winema"?

Honestly, I first thought that it's like playing Wii, only a cinema crowd level. Well, it's partially true.

Winema is actually an interactive game that everyone in the cinema will play before the movie starts. I don't think these games will replace the trailers (I hope not). In front of the cinema is a sensor that will actually detect the movement of your hands.

You will play the game this way:

Here are some videos of the actual game play:

SM's Most Interactive Cinema. Ever.

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/7505/smhightechcinema.jpg

SM Cinema tells its movie watchers to “prepare for the most interactive cinema experience ever.” Based on their ad materials, this interactive experience seems to involve something dynamic and playful, insinuating hand waving motions. If this is so, then it would be a first in Philippine cinema.

Together with the advent of 3D movies, efforts of creating unique encounters like the “interactive cinema experience” while watching in theatres is what makes cinemas still one of the best places for leisure.

This project is to be launched late April at the Digital Theater of SM Megamall, in time for the series of blockbuster movies this summer.
